I’ve been researching my family history since I was around 12 years old by bugging family members with endless questions. Through the years of digging, sifting through dusty documents, and visiting cemeteries, the very old and new, I discovered a wealth of stories from the past.

After 25 years as a Registered Nurse, I began writing books inspired by these stories in what has become my genealogy mystery series: The Perri Seamore Series.

But I also wanted to write about real people from the past, not just my family, who lived ordinary lives, experienced great difficulties and joyous occasions, and sometimes very eccentric or amazing lives. So, I started this blog to bring some of their stories to light.

What you will find here.

Some posts are about my family and their escapades, which appear to be quite numerous, including the serialized 1870s story of a family from my Boatwright line in St. Louis who were central in a Murder-at-a-Murder-Trial. I also write about interesting stories I find in newspapers, on stray postcards, or in court documents. My ongoing series features the stories of young ladies who signed an 1882 autograph book I found at a flea market. They came from well-to-do families and many led glamorous lives.

The first in the Buckfoot Gang series is linked below.
